General Data Protection Regulation

"The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), which came into effect on 25th May 2018, provides a legal framework for keeping everyone’s personal data safe by requiring any organisation, including sole traders, who handles personal data to have robust processes in place for handling and storing personal information.

Under GDPR we, as therapists, have an obligation to tell our clients specific information about what personal data we hold, why we hold it and what we do with it. This is the ‘right to be informed’. We must tell them this at the time we obtain the information from them."
